Mice Removal

Step-By-Step Mice Removal Guide

If you’re unfortunate enough to have found mice in your home, you must get rid of them as quickly as possible. Mice can destroy your home and spread germs everywhere they go. There are proper steps to ensure the mice get removed and don’t return.

Find and Eliminate Entry Points

The first step to mice removal is finding out how they’re getting into your home in the first place. Mice often squeeze into door cracks, insulation holes, unsealed lower-level windows, pipes, or other quarter-sized openings.

You will need to find where mice can get into your home and adequately fill the holes and cracks to ensure that rodents can’t get in and out anymore.

Conduct an Inspection

Look for where the mice have taken up residence. Mice are typically most active during dusk and dawn, so this is the best time to look for them. Listen for scratching in the walls or look for visual clues like droppings trails. Look for the mice nest to let you know where they’ll be.

Clean Your Home

Cluttered, dirty homes are a common cause of mouse infestations. This doesn’t mean your home is visibly filthy, but things like crumbs on counters and floors can be all it takes to attract mice inside. Keep counters cleaned, floors swept, and food products properly stored. This will discourage more mice from coming to your home.

Bonus Step: Adopt a Cat

This isn’t a required step because cats are finicky creatures and won’t be guaranteed to catch mice. However, if you can adopt a feline friend, they can be an excellent deterrent to mice. Some cats love hunting mice and will help rid you of a small infestation. However, be prepared for them to leave their prey for you as a little present.
