Mice Infestation

What To Expect If You Get Mice In Your Walls

Mice in the walls. You can tell there are some in there because you’ve noticed the telltale signs. The scratching sounds, most noticeable at night. The little scurrying noises. Maybe you’ve even heard a tiny squeak. Well, what’s the worst that can happen? I mean, they’re not bothering you, you’re not bothering them. How bad can it be?

If left unattended, there are several things you can expect, over the next few months. And the timetable is surprisingly rapid, meaning this problem is best addressed as soon as possible.

Unsanitary

As mice populate the inside of your walls, floors, and ceilings, they are constantly leaving droppings and urine. You will begin to notice a smell at some point. Think of it like a cat box, except contained inside the wall. Along with this material comes a home for bacteria and insect life. Eventually, it will become a serious health hazard. For example, Hantavirus can be contracted by humans when they breathe the fumes of mouse droppings and urine.

Population Bomb

Mice are able to reproduce very quickly, starting at just six weeks old. With an average litter often, and without the mitigating effect of natural predators in the wild, the mouse population in your walls can get very large, in a hurry. Even if you’ve only heard an occasional noise, it won’t be long before you hear a lot of noise.

Structural Damage

Mice inside of walls need material for nest building. If there is none available, they will make some, by chewing on things. This includes wood components, the paper surfaces of drywall, fiberglass insulation, and yes, electrical wiring. This last item can also present a fire hazard, as well as the failure of electrical outlets.

Mice in the walls start out as a mild inconvenience, and can quickly turn into a serious infestation. They are well protected in there, with generous shelter and immunity from predators. They have a ready food source nearby, thanks to your kitchen. We at Mice Mob Exterminators are ready to detect and identify your mouse problem and rid your wall space of unwanted pests once and for all.
