How Often Should I Have My Home Inspected for Mice?

Much like auto repairs and dental exams, keeping up a proper pest control routine is often difficult. In fact, let’s just be honest about it; almost nobody does it. And that is perfectly understandable. Who wants to think about their home being invaded by mice or some other vermin? Well, even though it’s understandable it still doesn’t make it OK by any means.

Not taking your home’s pest risks seriously is the number one cause of invasions and infestations. Not only that, but many homeowners even admit to ignoring the problem after they were aware of it. These folks are simply hoping that they problem will somehow go away on its own. It won’t. In actuality, we can guarantee that is will get even worse. The best and only way to truly prevent this is by having regular exterminator inspections on your home and property. But how often?

It Depends on Your Area

People in different types of housing and surrounding regions need inspections done at different times. For example, shared housing units such as apartments and condos need frequent inspections, as do rural properties. Single family housing with reasonable spacing does not need it as often.

Every Change of Season at Most

For the most diligent of pest control services, you would want no more than 4 seasonal inspections a year. And even then, it’s only typical for areas that have frequent or yearly infestations or if there are other factors which create an increased risk such as a nearby food source.

At the very least you should do it no less than once per year. In that case, it’s our recommendation that you do it in the summertime. Our overall recommendation, however, would be that most people have one done in the summer and one in the winter.
