Odors That Can Mean You Have a Mouse Problem

Droppings on the floor, holes chewed in cardboard boxes, scratching noises at night—these are all common signs of mice. However, you may be surprised to learn that certain odors can also be signs of a mouse problem. Along with contacting a company that offers mouse pest control in Chicago, it is important to familiarize yourself with the signs of mouse infestations so can be ready for mouse prevention this winter.

Mouse excrement can result in a musty, stale smell in your home. In addition, mouse urine can produce an ammonia-like smell. If you detect one of these odors, check for other signs of mice in cupboards, in your attic, and along walls. Another common cause of mouse odors is deceased mice. Mice have short lifespans, so if you have an infestation that lasts more than a few weeks, you could easily have a deceased mouse in the house. The result of this will be a strong, rotten odor.
