When you notice the presence of multiple mice or see one physically, it can be very alarming. Nobody wants an infestation of mice, as they can cause significant damage and present multiple health hazards.

If someone sees a mouse, the first thing they think about is whether there is more. It’s important to understand if you have a huge infestation so you can take the proper measures, like contracting the services of an exterminator.

This is especially important if you notice signs during the winter. During these months, huge numbers of mice will seek refuge from the cold by entering any structure where they can find warmth.

In this article, we’ll explain how you can identify the presence of multiple mice throughout your home.

Multiple Mice or Just One?

There are several indicators that can alert you to the presence of having several mice. Use the tips below to help during your inspection.

Droppings

Noticing droppings can be a huge indicator of the presence of multiple mice. Normally, if you have one mouse, you won’t notice as many droppings, or they’ll be limited to one area and exist in very small amounts.

If you notice multiple piles of droppings and see them scattered throughout various areas of your home, you could have a bigger infestation on your hands. Look for droppings in corners, under furniture, near pipes, in your basement, and near any food source.

Noises

Noises can be a huge red flag when it comes to having a mouse infestation. However, you need to have fairly good hearing to discern these noises from mice and other household sources.

If you listen closely, sometimes you can hear little squeaks coming from around your home. These noises often sound like a smoke detector when it beeps because of low batteries. However, these noises won’t be as long and not nearly as loud. They also won’t happen in a uniform pattern as a smoke detector produces.

You may also notice scratching or dragging noises as well. This could be mice scurrying and scratching around areas inside of your home. The noises can come from the insides of your walls, around your baseboards, or inside the vents of your home.

It’s important to remain vigilant for the signs of the presence of several mice. If you think you have a larger problem, contact Mice Mob Exterminators to eliminate the problem.
