Safe Mice Removal If You Have Pets

Do you have a mouse problem in your home? If you see one mouse, chances are you have quite a few in the walls and under the floorboards. This animal breeds quickly, and before long, the population can grow. They create a health hazard in the house, they gnaw on wires, and they spread disease. You want to get them out of your home as quickly as possible. However, if you have pets, you need to be sure the methods used will be safe for your furry, four-legged friends.

Your Pets Are Curious, so Use Caution

Some of the standard methods of getting rid of mice—baited traps, poison, etc.—can be dangerous when you have pets. You don’t want to use traps that could injure your beloved pet, and you don’t want to have poison that they might ingest. Even if you have a place where you’re certain the pets can’t get to the poison, there’s still a chance it could harm them. What would happen if a mouse consumed poison, and then your cat found the mouse and ate it, for example?

You don’t want to have to deal with a tragedy and expensive vet bills, so you need to think about the best ways to remove the mice if you have pets. The best course of action is to use preventative measures, so you don’t have a mouse problem in the first place. However, it might already be too late for that.

One of the options that you should consider is a live-catch trap for mice. This will capture the mice alive, so they can be released far away from your home. One of the issues with this, however, is that if you already have a lot of mice, it can take a long time to try to get all of them out of your house.

Get in Touch with the Professionals

The best thing to do is to work with a professional company in Chicago that has the tools, expertise, and experience to handle the infestation of mice. Make sure they know that you have pets and that they have means of removing the mice while keeping your pets safe. Once they have removed the mice, the extermination company can help to seal off points of entry and can prevent more mice from entering your property. Let the professionals take care of the work for you.
