Mice Infestation

Preventing Mice from Infesting Your RV This Winter

You love your RV and the freedom it gives you when you get out and travel during the warm weather. However, you probably don’t think about your RV too much during the winter months. After you winterize it, the RV doesn’t cross your mind until springtime. However, if you aren’t careful, you might have an unpleasant surprise when the warmer weather hits. You might have an infestation of mice. It’s important to make sure that part of your winterization is keeping the RV safe from mice. Let’s look at some simple tips that will help.

Make It Inhospitable for Mice

First, you want to make sure that the RV is not the type of place mice would want to hole up for the winter. Mice tend to look for certain things when they are choosing a space. They want a place that will be safe, warm, and that will have food. Therefore, you need to make sure that your RV doesn’t offer these things.

Don’t keep blankets, towels, or other items that might be tempting for nesting. Additionally, you need to be sure you aren’t keeping any food in the RV. Don’t leave any sort of food that the mice could get into in your RV, and make sure you clean the RV from top to bottom to remove any crumbs.

Look for Potential Entryways and Shore Them Up

Take some time to look around the RV for any holes or gaps that could provide entryways for mice. If there are any issues, you will want to have these repaired before you put the RV away for the winter. You don’t want to make it easy for the mice to get into the RV, after all.

Add Some Traps Just In Case

Even when you have followed the tips above, you can take yet another preventative measure. Put some traps in the RV for mice just in case. This way, if any adventurous mice get inside, there’s a chance they won’t get far.

What If You Still Have a Mouse Problem?

If you find that you were too late to keep your RV safe and you’re dealing with a mouse problem, you will want to act quickly. These rodents can cause a lot of damage in a short time. Get in touch with a reputable exterminator in Chicago that can come to your home and take care of your RV infestation right away. The sooner you act the better.
