Mice Infestation

Tips for Preventing Mice in Your Home

The best way to control mice in your home is to prevent them from coming in the first place. Use the following tips to keep house mice out of your space before they cause major problems in your home:

Call for Professional Help
A mice extermination company can come to your home to help you prevent issues before they start. The technician can go through all of the rooms to see if there are any areas that need special attention. Mouse proofing in Chicago, Illinois is a great way to prevent these pests from entering your home at all.

Fill in Cracks and Holes
It is easy for mice to slip into your home through cracks and holes in the foundation. Walk around your property and try to fill in any of these areas that leave you susceptible to these pests. Be sure to check around the doors and windows, in the foundation, and along the siding so you can close up these entrances before mice start to use them.

Maintain Your Roof
Damage on the roof creates an opening for mice. You should make an effort to fix or replace damaged shingles or vents on the roof to minimize these areas. You should also cut back overhanging trees and fix gaps that leave openings for mice.

Check Over Repair Work
If someone did a bad job of repairing a part of your home, it might give mice the perfect way inside. Check over any repair work that you had done to make sure all openings are properly sealed and that there is enough foam or caulk to keep mice out.

Replace Damaged Screens and Doors
If any of your screens or doors are damaged, it is important to replace them before you get any mice inside the house. Even a loose screen can create an opening through which a mouse can enter. Take the time to repair or replace the damaged areas to keep mice out of your home.
