Mice Infestation

Should I Care if My Detached Garage Has Mice?

Mice are a nuisance if they find their way into your house. They chew furniture, wires, and food, not to mention wooden walls and floors. Should you worry if you notice some mice in your detached garage? Yes, mice are an issue in your garage. They can create all the same types of damage, and possibly more.

Mice are Dangerous to Have Around

The truth is mice are dangerous no matter where they are on your property, because they pose many health risks. So, if you notice any signs of mice anywhere in your home, call mice exterminators as soon as possible. You are likely to still have issues if you rely on mouse traps instead.

Many health risks and illnesses are attributed to mice. Mice can transmit diseases to you directly if you get into contact with their urine, saliva, feces, or if they bite you. Worse still, they establish their territory by defecating and urinating all over the area, leaving a foul smell and providing a breeding ground for viruses, bacteria, and disease-causing microorganisms. The dangerous pathogens carried by mice include:

  • Hantavirus: Hantavirus is mainly found in mice feces and urine. This could cause you to start feeling chills, fever, pains, and aches. If you are not treated promptly, it can cause kidney failure, shortness of breath, and eventually death.
  • Salmonella: If they transmit Salmonella to your food or prep areas and you end up eating contaminated food, you’ll start feeling stomach cramps. Diarrhea and vomiting typically follow, and most people become very weak.

Additional Problems Mice Can Cause to Your Garage

Even if your garage is not attached to your home, you still expose yourself each time you go out there. Then, you could bring contamination back to the house as well. Perhaps the mice chew up wires, increasing the risk of your garage catching fire. Since people often store their chemicals in the garage, this could lead to a very dangerous situation for you, your family, and your home.

When you combine that with the damage they can cause if they chew up wires or insulation around your garage, it becomes easy to see why you want them away from your property altogether. You should not fight mice on your own. Call Mice Mob Exterminators. We have several years of experience eliminating mice from homes safely without exposing families to dangerous chemicals.
